S.Africa’s former pres says recent court judgement and inquiry treatment against him too similar with apartheid modus operandi to be ignored, dares them to arrest

NEW YORK|UNITED STATES(GMT: 0500)

Messages of support poured to South African former president Jacob Zuma following a judgement from the highest court in the land , compelling him to appear before a graft inquiry to answer questions,a statement shared by local state broadcaster’s journalist read in the morning, mentioning no names specifically but states that they are members of the ruling African National Congress(ANC) while others were general members of the public.

Written in a first person, the statement accuses local courts of having granted the an anti-graft-watch dog’s then office holder,Adv Thuli Madonsela an power to strip the president off his powers as a president.

Than the president being the one appointing a judge to head an inquiry,it was the Mrs. Madonsela who directly elected the Chief Justice of the country to make appointments, also Mrs. Madonsela said an commission of inquiry into allegations of top level graft had to investigater Mr. Zuma and the Gupta brothers because her term was running out .

But Mr. Zuma asks how did the courts allow the special kind of proceedings to take place because,he states,it is the office of the anti-graft-watch-dog that carries out the investigations not a holder.

The Chief Justice had to appoint a judge to head the commission because Mr. Zuma as a president was directly implicated on the allegations,Mrs. Madonsela said back then,it was not clear why a deputy president was not a choice.

In a judgement last thursday, read by one of ten judges who were listening to the application on the 29th of Dec 2020,the court warned Mr. Zuma that the accusations against him were serious and he had no right to remain silent before the commission.

But on monday, the former president who still remains influential within local politics, accused the court of being politicised to an extent that it followed apartheid routes on the nature of how it used to target freedom fighters such as Robert Sobukwe .

‘In this circumstances ,I am left with no other alternative but to be defiant against injustice as I did against the apartheid government’ vowed the 79-year old who retreated to his hometown of the south eastern coast province of Kwa-Zulu Natal.

Political foes on the far-left opposition declared the unusual open court defiance an immediate warrant for the arrest of the former president .

‘I am again prepared to go to prison’ Mr. Zuma repeated the remarks which he made few years back ,again, citing his previous sufferings and jail time with Nelson Mandela under the apartheid regime.

S.African president accuse U.S. of ‘jealously’ amid trade standoff

LONDON|UNITED KINGDOM(GMT: +01:00)

The leader of Africa’s most industrialised economy, president Cyril Ramaphosa reportedly alligned his country with China in the trade war with the United States.
President Cyril Ramaphosa publicly accuses the United States of being jealous, according to Times Live website reports later friday citing Mr. Ramaphosa’s words at a local business conference.
The president received an overwhelming criticism later last month after delivering a national parliamentary opening speech in Cape Town.
During the televised proceedings, known locally as the State of the nation address or shortened as SONA,Ramaphosa said that he was dreaming of a newly found ‘city’ built in a modern ‘technology’,saying that China’s Xi also recently built such city.
For some in his own African National Congress(ANC) and to the broader sphere, this was seen as a shift from the pledge that the president made— when he took power from the ousted Zuma early in 2018—.
Ramaphosa promised to revive the economy that currently has a record of almost 30% unemployment-rate and the state-owned companies continue to dip into financial crisis.
This week alone, the public broadcaster SABC and military weapons manufacturer Denel, requested for a financial bailout from the government.
The news website cites directors of top local wireless providers namely Vodacom,MTN and Cell C including state’s Telkom as drivers of the president’s latest policy stance.

One police officer was stoned to death Sunday at the peak of Zimbabwean protests, communications chief was heard from media briefing as saying Tuesday.

The protests by the public entering the third day comes just after medical professionals agreed to end a prolonged strike over salaries they say are low.

This is a bad track for Mngangagwa who promised to revive the Southern African country’s economy which collapsed under the rule of Mugabe which lasted for decades, until he was dropped through bloodless coup in late 2016.

The latest uprisings were seemingly ignited by an announcement of the president that fuel costs were to be increased .

Since then, few were reportedly dead amid clash with armed forces and other law enforcement from the streets of capital Harare, that was before the communication chief decided to shut down the internet.

The numbers of deaths conflicts from each reports.

The intervention of  military forces during protests in the country has became a phenomena, even after the period of ex-guerilla Robert Mugabe.
